Ofoq Publishing: Curating Excellence in Literature

Founded on January 21, 1989, Ofoq Publishers initially focused on children’s and young adult literature. Since 2002, Ofoq has expanded to adult literature, and today has introduced nearly 2100 titles to the cultural community.

Since the very beginning, Ofoq Publishers has been committed to bringing high-quality literature to Iranian readers of all ages. Prioritizing quality over quantity in a challenging book market, Ofoq has cultivated a professional and dedicated team specializing in editing, design, marketing, promotion, and distribution. Our goal is to honor both readers and creators by remaining innovative, diverse, trustworthy, and up-to-date.

Copyright and International Rights

Since 1991, Ofoq has been a pioneer in acquiring copyrights and exclusive publishing rights in Iran, although Iran is not a member in any international convention regarding copyright for books. Our first copyright agreement, signed in an era before email and the internet, stands as a testament to Ofoq’s long-standing commitment and integrity. This dedication has allowed us to introduce world-renowned authors—such as Paul Auster, Peter Carey, Ian McEwan, Cornelia Funke, Thomas Mann, Hermann Hesse, Anna Seghers, Hubert Mingarelli, Kazuo Ishiguro, and many more—to Iranian readers with care and respect.

Awards and Recognition

Ofoq titles have received over 200 national and international awards. The publisher has been recognized multiple times for excellence in children’s and young adult literature in Iran and has participated in major international book fairs including Bologna, Frankfurt, Cairo, London, and Sharjah.
